The student body and community gathered together on the afternoon of February 15, 2023 to witness the induction of 13 new members to the Holyoke High School Chapter of the National Honor Society. Guests were welcomed by NHS President Kai Siep and then the NHS officers explained the four pillars of NHS, scholarship, leadership, service, and character.
\r\nFollowing an explanation of what it take to be a member of NHS, the current members presented the new members, taking time to highlight their accomplishments in High School. Aside from all members meeting the minimum GPA requirements, their leadership, service, and character were mentioned in their introductions.
\r\nAmong the new members are the District FCCLA President, someone who works young children at the annual cheer clinic, another who has volunteered with Operation Christmas Child, the District 4 FLBA Secretary, a young lady who volunteered on a park clean up crew, a young man who traveled out of state to help with disaster clean up, lifeguards, babysitters, lead fundraising efforts for a friends memorial, students who have donated blood, help host athletic camps for children, help prepare taxes, and participate in 4-H.
\r\nNHS Vice President Ethan Schneller invited the new, current and alumni members of NHS to join him in the NHS pledge and reminded each of them with nobility comes obligation.
\r\nSiep returned to the stage and reminded the new members that it takes a village to raise a child and encouraged the new members to thank everyone who had helped them accomplish their goals in life.
\r\nCongratulations to all the NHS members. For more information about National Honor Society click here.
