Mrs. Dirks kindergarten class had a special visitor from long ago named Sarah Oliver Whitney (Caryl Harvey). Sarah visited our class and shared stories about long ago. Students listened and asked questions. We had a " fire" as our source of light. The students enjoyed our guest and they learned a lot about what it may have been like to live in the past. We also had the opportunity to churn butter in jars. The students really loved this activity but thought the process was VERY exhausting.
Here's the recipe if you would like to churn your own butter at home:
1/2 cup of heavy whipping cream (at room temperature)
1 pinch of salt
Put your lid on and shake until done. We added some cinnamon sugar to our butter. However, make sure that you do not add too much or your mixture will not solidify.
