Mrs. Bennett’s fourth grade class earned the title of “Holyoke Top Dogs” in the 2019 Northeast Colorado sumdog contest. Students competed at three levels during the contest. Holyoke classes competed against each other for top school honors. Classes competed against other classes in Northeast Colorado, and students competed for individual awards. \r\n

Dragons competed with twenty-seven classes from schools in Northeast Colorado. Three hundred eighty-eight students participated from May 10-16 answering math questions using the sumdog.com website. In one week students in the contest answered math 140,358 questions. Fifteen of the top twenty scores were held by Holyoke Elementary students. \r\n

The annual sumdog competition is a voluntary contest for students who choose to participate. Students log into the sumdog.com website to answer math questions based upon the Common Core Education Standards to earn points. Each student can answer up to 1,000 questions and their score is the number of questions they answer correctly.
\r\nAlthough the contest is over, students can use their sumdog accounts anytime during the year to practice their math skills. \r\n
