Students of the month

Holyoke Chamber of Commerce in recognizing students who go above and beyond in their efforts to RISE to Excellence.

The following students have been selected for November Students of the Month.

Junior High: David Vazquez

Student PhotoDavid was nominated by multiple students.

"I feel that David should win because he is super friendly, always willing to help, and hilarious. Although David doesn't have a 4.0 GPA he is still an amazing student and athlete. He is responsible when he needs to be, serious during class, and the hardest worker I know. This is why David Vasquez should be Student of the Month.

David Vasquez is a very hard-working, kind, active in basketball, respectful, and caring student to his peers and his teachers. No matter what kind of work you give David to do, it may not always be the best, but he will accept to the task you give him and not only that, but he will always put in his 110%. David also puts in a lot of effort in his current sport, basketball. He pays attention to his coach and focuses on his game whether he's sitting on the bench or whether he's dribbling across the court. These few reasons give a very thorough explanation on why David should be student of the month, because he puts in all the effort he has, he's kind, he's active in basketball, respectful, and caring to everyone in the school."

Senior High School: Anthony Moran Aguilar

Antony Moran Aguilar, nominated by Ms. Penzing and Mrs. Nevarez

Antony Aguillar is very eager to learn ,always very interested in learning everything he needs. He learned the FFA creed in a few weeks. He is very consistent and  takes pride  in all his responsibilities. When he sees someone around him that is struggling he doesn't hesitate to help no matter what the subject is. He is very respectful all around. It speaks a lot of someone who is a newcomer and learning the new language. Antony Moran has been able to adapt perfectly to changes and has thus inspired many of his classmates. Although it is not easy to emigrate and adapt to all the changes that it entails, such as a new language, country, customs, being away from part of your family, changing schools, he has known how to take it in a positive way. Every day the student challenges himself and looks for ways to learn more, and that is why the student has learned a new language more quickly, due to the thirst for learning that he has every day. Antony always speaks kindly to his classmates, thus demonstrating the maturity that he has. In addition, the student participated in Football, Basketball and FFA.Student PhotoAntony Moran Aguilar was nominated by Ms. Penzing and Mrs. Nevarez
