A Gifted and Talented child is a student whose abilities, talents, and potential for accomplishments are so outstanding that he or she requires special provisions to meet his or her educational needs. According to the Student Handbook, these students are capable of high performance, exceptional production, or exceptional learning behavior. In order for a student to be identified as “Gifted and Talented”, they have to get identified by a teacher, parent, or other adult. If a parent believes his or her child is “Gifted and Talented,” they can request to have their student tested by the district. Students must pass this test, called CoGAT, and meet other criteria in order for them to be “Gifted and Talented." If you’re a parent of a child who would like to be considered for “Gifted and Talented” but wasn’t identified by a teacher, please contact Mrs. Loutensock.
