Holyoke FCCLA is partnering with a charity called “Feeding Children Everywhere” to host a hunger project that will allow our high school students to package meals for those who are in need around Holyoke. The project is intended to both help feed those who are in need and also to develop philanthropy and compassion within our student body that will hopefully set a pattern of charitable giving of both time and financial resources into their adult lives. The Hunger Project food packaging event will take place on February 27th.
The first phase of the project is to raise money to fund the hunger project. On January 11th, FCCLA will host an Empty Bowl Supper at the high school. The concept is that those attending choose a unique or ceramic bowl to eat from, and then take it home as a reminder that many have only an empty bowl when it is time for supper. All the proceeds will go toward our hunger project. We want to get the community as involved as possible.
We invite everyone in Holyoke to support us in this cause by purchasing tickets for the Empty Bowl Supper, donating food or bowls for the supper, or donating funds toward our food packaging Hunger Event. Tickets for the dinner will cost $10 for adults and $6 for children under the age of twelve and seniors. Checks should be made out to HHS. Tickets can be purchased from any FCCLA member or you can email vice-president Kyra Loutensock at loutensockka@hcosd.org.
