Freshman Amy Mackay is an active participant in the Gifted and Talented program. On Tuesday, February 13, Amy went to NJC to do activities with other gifted and talented students from around the region. Amy was the only high school student from Holyoke to go. Junior High students Jimena Nuñez, Tuff Sigler, Miranda Schroetlin, Johnny Quintana, and Max Kleve all went as well. Amy’s favorite part was the closing speaker. Amy stated, “The day was focused around using our creativity to better our country's future, there was a painting activity, and we had to build a windmill out of recycled materials.“ This was the first GT (gifted and talented) experience for Amy. She genuinely enjoyed it and is looking forward to learning more about it.
