On Wednesday, April 11th, Jes-c French from the Holyoke Enterprise spoke to the junior high and high school journalism students. She addressed the many responsibilities of being a journalist. The 5 core values are accuracy, independence, fairness, humanity, and accountability. We learned that all of these values apply to not only the school newspaper, but the Holyoke Enterprise as well. In addition, we learned the difference between fake news and unpopular news. There have been many cases in which news that is unpopular is considered fake, which is not the case at all. Mrs. French coming to talk to us shed a lot of light on the huge world of journalism, especially with Colorado journalism week coming up April 16th!
