Through the Holyoke Homegrown Talent Initiative students get the opportunity to explore career choices outside of the traditional classroom. This series spotlights junior and senior interns who leave the traditional classroom for one or more class period a day and learn what life will be like once they hit the work force. Meet Katelyn Kropp
Internship Highlights | Katelyn spends two hours a day interning with our Agriculture Education teacher, Mrs. Strecker. |
What have you learned? | "The first day of 11th grade when I watched her teach was when I know what I wanted to do. Since then I have taught class, corresponded with other ag teachers, helped Mrs. Strecker make decisions that affect everyone, and so much more. Mrs. Strecker has put me in contact with many other ag teachers. |
Career Exploration | "If you would have asked me what I was going to study in college, I would have told you two different options that were polar opposites. My number one career choice was a high school Physical Education Teacher. Scott Dilly inspired a love for athletics and health at a young age and I was sure I wanted to continue down that road. My next consideration was medicine. First, I wanted to be a doctor, then a nurse, and finally I settled on becoming a physician's assistant. |
A huge thank you to Holyoke School District and Holyoke FFA for allowing this partnership to happen and our students to learn and grow.
